Though Black Adam has become a mainstay for DC comic book readers in recent years, he’s remained much less well known outside of comics. But the character has a history stretching all the way back to 1945, to a time before DC was even DC (it were still going by the name National Publications) when Black Adam was owned by Fawcett Comics, one of National’s biggest rivals.
THIS MOVIE WILL BE OFFICIALLY RELEASED ON 21st October 2022
Johnson’s Black Adam film will seemingly focus more on the character’s more recent history since his revamp and revitalization in the late ’90s when he was first an enemy and then a member of the Justice Society, many members of whom – like Hawkman, Cyclone, Doctor Fate, and Atom Smasher – will also appear in the film.
Now that The Batman is in theaters, attention is turning to some of the upcoming DC films on the horizon – notably Dwayne Johnson’s long-awaited Black Adam film, which adapts characters and concepts from Shazam! and the Justice Society of America to the big screen.
